Fall Into A New Routine
A seasonal reset helps you pause, declutter your mind, and refocus your energy, so you can move forward with clarity and purpose. Hello!
As fall approaches, I contemplate changes to my routines, schedules, and surroundings. I'm a step ahead this year, already delving into my third reflection on navigating the autumn season. These thoughts aim to gently guide us through this transitional time, offering insights on how we can adapt our lives to the changing season. Shall we begin?
Check, Baby, Check, Baby, 1-2-3-4
The arrival of cooler weather and shorter days presents an ideal moment to make thoughtful adjustments to our daily habits. By reflecting on what we're currently doing and introducing small changes, we can better align our schedules with the unique pace of autumn. This process can significantly enhance both our productivity and our comfort.
Excuse Me, Miss, But Is Your Hair On Fire?
Since 2022, I've been a caregiver, dealing with personal health challenges and surgeries. I've reached a point of burnout, and this realization has prompted me to examine my life closely. It's time to slow down, reset, and restart. As we transition into fall, it's crucial to reflect on what's working in our routines and what might need to change.
Become An Early Riser
Consider how your daily patterns might shift with the changing season. As days grow shorter and temperatures drop, you may find yourself spending more time indoors, which can affect your fitness routine or work habits. Identifying these necessary changes is vital to crafting an effective fall routine. It might mean starting your day earlier to make the most of daylight or incorporating more relaxation into your evenings.
Get Those Spaces In Check
As we enter fall in the northern hemisphere, it's natural to turn inward and seek cozier environments. I emphasize the importance of adapting our surroundings to the season. Take stock of your current habits and consider how you want to feel throughout autumn. Does your space reflect warmth and comfort? Are there adjustments you can make to enhance your environment?
Get Off The Morning Express Train
Adjusting your morning routine is essential as days shorten and temperatures cool. Begin your day with activities that invigorate you—perhaps some gentle stretching, a quick workout, or enjoying a warm drink while reviewing your goals. Cooler mornings might inspire you to allow extra breakfast time or layer up in comfortable attire.
And Let There Be Light
Make the most of natural light while it's available. Incorporate it into your morning routine by opening curtains wide or spending a few moments outdoors. This can significantly boost your mood and energy as you begin your day.
Wind Down Slow
As fall evenings naturally encourage us to slow down, adjusting your evening routine for relaxation and coziness is essential. Include calming activities like reading, journaling, or practicing mindfulness. Create a cozy atmosphere with soft lighting—using red lights helps prepare my body for sleep. Comfortable seating and a warm beverage, like a soothing herbal tea, can enhance your evening relaxation.
Bend Like A Palm Tree
Remember to prioritize tasks that align with your personal and seasonal goals while maintaining flexibility. As someone navigating menopause and juggling eldercare responsibilities, I understand the importance of a schedule that can bend like a palm tree in the wind—resilient yet adaptable rather than rigid and prone to snapping under pressure.
Let The Curtain Fall Unfold Naturally
Let's approach this season with gentleness, letting things fall into place naturally, much like leaves drifting from the trees. By making thoughtful adjustments to our routines and environments, we can navigate the autumn months with greater ease and enjoyment.
As we navigate this season of gentle change together, I'd like to share something I am currently using. I've crafted a workbook—a chill spot for your thoughts, a quiet space where reflections can settle like acorns finding their place on the ground. It's a little gift to help you pause, breathe, and give your musings a cozy home to return to whenever you need a gentle reminder.

Wonderful! I used to dread fall because winter was right behind it. I’m so happy I learned to embrace the season. After all…it’s going to happen, one way or another, right? Might just as well go through happy rather than miserable. 🍁
